PCES™ – Certified Entry-Level Security Specialist with Python
PCES™ – Certified Entry-Level Security Specialist with Python certification validates a learner’s ability to recognize common security threats, apply protective measures, and use Python to support basic security operations. The certification covers the fundamentals of IT security principles, system hardening, authentication, access control, and cloud/remote security basics, while introducing practical skills in Python for monitoring, reporting, and automation.
The exam emphasizes Python’s built-in capabilities, such as variables, data structures, file handling, control flow, and functions, alongside practical libraries like socket, ssl, psutil, subprocess, cryptography, and paramiko. Candidates will demonstrate the ability to monitor processes, perform basic scans, verify file integrity, and generate structured reports in formats such as CSV, JSON, or PDF.
PCES is designed for beginners in cybersecurity who already possess basic programming skills (PCEP™-level or equivalent experience). It provides a supportive entry into Python-driven IT security and builds the practical and conceptual foundation needed for more advanced tools, secure development practices, and certifications in the future.
